A fierce and lengthy court battle could be on the way as New Jersey rolls out a new machine for detecting drunken driving.

A new device, the Drager Alcotest 9510, is set to be placed in 34 Monmouth County police agencies by mid-August, said Steven Barnes, a spokesman for the Attorney General’s Office. The device is expected replace the Alcotest 7110, which has been used statewide for more than 15 years, but has been discontinued by the manufacturer.
