President Joe Biden on Tuesday announced several federal court nominations, including one pick for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

Cindy Chung would fill a seat that opened after Third Circuit Judge D. Brooks Smith took senior status last December. Chung has been the U.S. attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania since last year, and before that, was an assistant U.S. attorney in the same district. She also previously was a trial attorney in the criminal section of the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division. After graduating from Columbia Law School in 2002, she clerked for Judge Myron Thompson on the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Alabama.
