The U.S. Senate Wednesday confirmed Jersey City attorney Evelyn Padin for a seat on the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, helping reverse a lean period that resulted in a judicial emergency in the state’s federal courts.
The Senate confirmed Padin by a 51-43 vote. She fills a seat that has been vacant since 2015, when Faith Hochberg retired.
