Former Philadelphia Judge Angeles Roca, who was removed from the bench in 2016, has now received a one-year deferred suspension in New Jersey as reciprocal discipline for multiple violations of judicial conduct rules exposed by an FBI wiretap.
Roca, formerly a Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas judge, was initially deemed ineligible to hold judicial office in the future after the wiretap exposed conversations with former Judge Joseph C. Waters Jr. The pair were unaware their conversation was being lawfully recorded by the FBI when they discussed taking action to intervene in Roca’s son’s motion hearing in municipal court before Judge Dawn A. Segal.
