Capehart Scatchard in Mount Laurel hosted a remote panel discussion on June 22 for first-year law students from Rutgers Law School who are part of the Rutgers Minority Student Program. Capehart Scatchard attorneys Ana-Eliza Bauersachs, Sanmathi (Sanu) Dev, and Stacey Gorin, and summer law clerks Kristen Doyle, Sean Dugan and Gitika Kapoor, served as panelists participating in a discussion on law careers in private practice. The panelists shared their experiences and insights about succeeding in law school, increasing diversity and inclusion in the profession, and demystifying the summer law clerk experience. The event was hosted by Capehart Scatchard’s diversity and inclusion committee, which Dev leads.

Halpern Appointed as Trustee of the Association of the Federal Bar of New Jersey Jakob Halpern

Saiber partner Jakob Halpern has been named to the board of trustees of the Association of the Federal Bar of New Jersey. Halpern, along with other members of the federal bar who were selected to serve on the board, were inducted at a swearing-in ceremony on June 22. The Association of the Federal Bar of New Jersey serves attorneys who practice in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey’s three vicinages: Newark, Trenton and Camden. The association is now in its 50th year. In his practice, Halpern represents clients in corporate, commercial, complex and multi-party litigation with an emphasis on intellectual property, employment, competition law and professional malpractice matters, predominantly before the federal courts. He also counsels clients regarding intellectual property rights and employment issues. Halpern previously clerked for U.S. District Judge William Matthew Byrne Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. He received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 2004, and his A.B. from Dartmouth College in 1999. He practices in the firm’s Florham Park office.
