Just two weeks after losing its chief legal officer Shannon Thyme Klinger to biotech company Moderna Inc., Novartis announced that it has found its next legal leader.

The Basel, Switzerland-based pharmaceutical company announced on March 22 that Karen Hale will take the reins of the legal department as its chief legal officer beginning May 15. She will be based in the company’s Basel headquarters and report directly to CEO Vas Narasimhan. Hale will become a part of the Executive Committee of Novartis.
