Jaynee LaVecchia has served the people of New Jersey for nearly all of her 40+ year career.  Indeed, JLV will have served for longer than all but one justice on the Supreme Court of New Jersey by the time of her retirement in August. She has done so with humility, distinction, and grace. She has done so with an eye toward justice, at a pace we should all aspire to, and with a faithfulness to our institutions and their integrity that is unmatched. JLV may be small in stature but is a titan of mind and spirit.

I had the distinct honor to serve as a law clerk in her chambers beginning in the fall of 2012, after having graduated from her alma mater, Rutgers School of Law – Newark. In reflecting on her tenure, I was moved to remember her imprint on the different areas of our profession and the rights of the people of our state. Her legacy is far-reaching in scope and deep in impact.
