A federal judge has dismissed a gun-rights group’s suit against the New Jersey Press Association over the journalism association’s refusal to issue police press credentials to the group’s president.

With an explosion of electronic media transforming  the notion of who is a journalist, the case could be studied as an example of a new type of activism where litigants seek to access to the reporter privileges.
