Attorney General Gurbir Grewal’s sweeping revamp of New Jersey’s directive on police use of force could result in more legal work, according to lawyers familiar with the package of policies.

The Excellence in Policing Initiative, aimed at limiting the use of force by police, could generate  more internal affairs and administrative cases involving police officers who fail to comply with the new policies. It could also prompt members of the public to file more lawsuits over their interactions with police, as stricter regulations result in more transgressions by officers, those lawyers said.
