The state Supreme Court heard arguments on whether the Ocean Township Police Department discriminated against an officer when the late-term pregnant employee who had asked not to wear her service revolver was denied the accommodation.

Township of Ocean, the justices must weigh whether to uphold the Appellate Division panel that reversed a trial court in determining that the Ocean Police Department’s “Maternity Assignment Standard Operating Procedure” violated the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act of 2014 and provisions of the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination.
