In the latest wrinkle in the New Jersey judiciary’s efforts to navigate the challenges of the pandemic, the court now says prosecutors don’t have to present cases to grand juries with the jurors participating remotely.

After a group representing the state’s 21 county prosecutors said they were confused about whether the court’s expansion of virtual grand juries was compulsory, the judiciary responded that it was not compelling presentation of cases to virtual grand juries.
