The state Supreme Court was alternately stern and sympathetic with Middlesex County Superior Court Judge Carlia Brady on Tuesday during a hearing on whether she should be removed from the bench for allegedly harboring her fugitive ex-boyfriend.

Brady was self-represented at a hearing on her motion to dismiss a presentment by the Advisory Committee on Judicial Conduct seeking to remove her from the bench for failure to turn in her then-boyfriend, Jason Prontnicki, after learning he was sought by the Woodbridge Police Department for the armed robbery of a pharmacy.
