Voorhees High School prevailed in the 2019 Hunterdon County High School mock trial competition, which held its opening rounds on  Jan. 26 and its final round on Feb. 4, with Hunterdon Central High School, North Hunterdon High School, and Voorhees High competing. Teachers and volunteer attorneys helped prepare the teams for a fictitious case in which the students play the parts of attorneys and witnesses. This year’s case was a civil case dealing with personal injury at an amusement park. In the opening round, each team engaged in two trials. and then the teams with the two best records, North Hunterdon High School and Voorhees High School, advanced to the final, which took place on Feb. 4 at the Historic Courthouse in Flemington. Superior Court Judges Robert A. Ballard and Michael F. O’ Neill presided. In a very close match, Voorhees High School defeated North Hunterdon High School, and advanced to the regional level of the New Jersey State Mock Trial Competition. The 2018-2019 Vincent J. Apruzzese Mock Trial Competition is sponsored by the New Jersey State Bar Foundation and the Hunterdon County Bar Association. The county program was administered by Clinton attorney John C. Macce and Lyn Brokaw, executive director of the Hunterdon County Bar Association.

Seiden Family Law in Cranford participated in an indoor cycling event at the Equinox in Summit on Feb. 2 and raised more than $6,775 for Cycle For Survival, a charity that raises money for rare cancer research, according to a release.
