As a host of New York lawyers mobilized to reunite families who have been separated while trying to cross the southern border of the United States, state Attorney General Barbara Underwood announced Tuesday she has joined counterparts in 17 other states in a lawsuit to challenge the Trump administration’s immigration policies and practices.

The attorneys general allege that, as of June 20, when President Donald Trump signed an executive order rescinding the policy, at least 2,000 children had been taken into custody away from other family members.
