The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission announced Monday that Marc Berger, a Ropes & Gray practice leader and former federal prosecutor, is becoming director of its New York regional office in January.

Berger is currently global co-head of Ropes & Gray’s securities and futures enforcement practice. Before joining the firm in 2014, he spent 12 years as a prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of New York, including two years as chief of the Securities and Commodities Task Force.
