Foley & Lardner provided more than 175,000 meals to hungry residents in the firm’s communities across the country in honor of its 175th anniversary in September.
In New York, more than 50 of the firm’s employees took part in the initiative, which was dubbed “Foley Feeds Families.” Foley’s New York office packed food at the Food Bank for Westchester Inc. where partner Bob Scher serves on the board.
“One in five people in Westchester are what we call food insecure,” Scher said in an interview. “They don’t always know where that next meal is going to come from.”
In addition to spending the day working at the food bank, the firm raised $7,000, Scher said. The charitable work benefited the working poor but also helped raise the spirits of those who helped out.
“It was really a great team-building day as well. Everybody worked together,” Scher said.
