Equity Residential recently purchased from the Portnof family a portfolio of multifamily buildings on the Upper West Side for $180 million. Also, Wal-Mart has agreed to a 10-year lease for the second floor of The National Tower Building at 1372 Broadway. The lease includes 46,103 square feet in the Penn Plaza building. Wal-Mart intends to use the space, plus its mezzanine, for executive offices and a clothing design center.
