The number of securities fraud class action lawsuits filed in the first half of this year dipped to the lowest total for any six-month period in a decade, according to a recent report by the Stanford Law School Securities Class Action Clearinghouse in cooperation with Cornerstone Research. The study found that only 61 actions had been filed from January through June. At that rate, 123 lawsuits will be filed this year, down from last year's 179.
