Early this year, Evan A. Davis, President of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, sent an e-mail to Association members announcing the formation of the City Bar Pro Bono Society. It read in part:

To recognize members who have made an outstanding contribution of pro bono legal services in the past year, the Association has established the City Bar Pro Bono Society. Pro Bono Society members will be recognized on the Association’s Web Page, through a roster in the Online Yearbook, and in the individual Online Membership Directory listing. Persons who are members of the Society for three consecutive years will receive a lapel pin. Our present plan is that the pin will be in the likeness of Athena, the Guardian of the City and the icon of the Association.
