ALBANY – In years of defending clients in environmental actions, the Albany law firm Whiteman, Osterman & Hanna LLP has witnessed a recurring problem: While it may have helped solve the tip-of-the-iceberg civil or criminal enforcement matter, future headaches frequently lurked just below the surface.
Now Albany’s largest law firm is seeking to address the underlying issue by creating an affiliate environmental management business, WOH Environment & Energy Solutions, a limited liability consulting company. The law practice hired M. Peter Lanahan Jr. to run the new firm. Mr. Lanahan is a former deputy commissioner with the state Department of Environmental Conservation and, most recently, vice president of Con Edison of New York Inc. At Con Ed, he was in charge of restructuring the utility’s environmental, health and safety programs.
