CENTRAL ISLIP – A woman accusing six Suffolk County corrections officers of assault while she was an inmate in a county facility was granted leave to file a late notice of claim when Supreme Court Justice Howard Berler found her statement to a Sheriff’s Department internal affairs officer, made two days after the alleged attack, served as sufficient notice to the county.

In her proposed notice of claim, Annette E. Vogelfang, 33, contended she was forced on Sept. 5 to perform oral sex on one corrections officer, then was beaten and dragged by five others. Chief Alan Otto, the Sheriff’s Department spokesman, said the internal investigation concluded in January that Ms. Vogelfang’s complaint was unfounded.
