MINEOLA – Nassau County Surrogate’s Court settled 17 percent more cases in 2001 compared with the previous year, while other activity for the court remained relatively static, according to its annual report.

Some 145 matters were settled last year in Surrogate’s Court, as opposed to the 126 cases the court settled in 2000. The increase in settlements, combined with 752 conferences, “greatly helped the court keep its calendar current,” wrote Chief Surrogate’s Court Clerk Albert W. Petraglia, who compiled the report.
