andra Maliszewski harbors no illusions that working as a first-year associate for one of Long Island’s biggest law firms will deliver a different type of satisfaction from her career as a midwife. But as diverse as they may seem, she plans to meld the two occupations to help integrate midwifery into the mainstream.
Ms. Maliszewski joined Ruskin Moscou Evans & Faltischek after a 20-year career that she began as a registered nurse first, then as a nurse practitioner, and later with certification in midwifery in 1991. And while she likely will spend much of her time working on medical malpractice cases with the 60-attorney Uniondale firm, she also expects to forge a practice in midwifery law.
