IMPORTANT NEW details in the bribery case against Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Victor I. Barron – including the name of the lawyer who is the chief prosecution witness – emerged yesterday as a grand jury handed down an indictment against the judge.
At a press conference announcing the indictment, Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes described in detail how Justice Barron demanded a $250,000 bribe before he would approve a $4.9 million settlement for a brain-injured baby, and how he ultimately accepted an $18,000 payment from the lawyer in a conversation that was electronically recorded.
