ALBANY-During the last legislative session, a dozen bills were introduced that would have imposed tighter restrictions or shed more sunlight into lobbying in Albany. Not a single bill made it out of committee.

There was the bill that would have extended the prohibition of contingent retainers to local government actions, and the one that would have brought procurement lobbying under the fold and limited the influence of lobbyists on agency purchasing decisions. There was a measure introduced to restrict political contributions by lobbyists. Another bill would have prohibited lobbyists from giving more than $75 in presents to public officials.
