ALBANY — In the Albany lobbying community, David M. Grandeau is viewed as something of a china shop bull, with brains.

“Runyonesque,” said lawyer/lobbyist James D. Featherstonhaugh when asked to describe Mr. Grandeau, executive director of the New York Temporary State Commission on Lobbying. “Very smart. Obviously knows everything about that area. But tends to be kind of gruff.”
