For 2002 the New York State Bar Association will offer the Legislature a program comprised of three distinct components: major affirmative legislative proposals, technical bills and numerous legislation reports designed to shape pending legislation. Adequate compensation for assigned counsel remains a top priority. Current rates are woefully inadequate as underscored by what is offered by the majority of other states as well as the federal government.
