Kasowitz Benson Torres & Friedman in Manhattan is leading an American Indian tribe’s fight to recoup $600 million from Connecticut for seizing a large swath of its reservation more than 100 years ago.

The Schaghticoke Tribal Nation and Connecticut will appear in Hartford Superior Court for an April 3 hearing on a motion to dismiss in Schaghticoke Tribal Nation v. State of Connecticut. The state claims the tribe lacks standing to sue, and that the state is protected by sovereign immunity.
