A Nassau County engineering firm and its former project manager have been charged with fraudulently altering reports on residential properties that were damaged in 2012 during Hurricane Sandy, the state Attorney General’s Office announced Monday.

Matthew Pappalardo and his former employer, HiRise Engineering, are both charged with 25 counts of second-degree forgery, a class D felony. Pappalardo, who allegedly directed HiRise employees to alter reports on properties covered under the National Flood Insurance Program, was also charged with 25 counts of unauthorized practice of engineering, a class E felony.
