David Loftis has been named attorney-in-charge of post-conviction and forensic litigation for the Legal Aid Society after spending a decade as managing attorney for the Innocence Project.
Loftis, who started work for Legal Aid on Monday, leads the organization’s criminal appeals bureau, the parole revocations defense unit, the DNA unit and the digital forensics unit. He serves as a deputy to Tina Luongo, attorney-in-charge for Legal Aid’s criminal practice, which handles about 230,000 cases a year, Legal Aid spokeswoman Patricia Bath said.
