A plaintiff may proceed anonymously with his federal claim that Colgate University unlawfully expelled him a few weeks prior to his scheduled graduation in 2015 based on accusations of sexual misconduct made by three female students.

Northern District Judge Lawrence Kahn‘s ruling in Doe v. Colgate University, 5:15-cv-1069, was contrary to a decision by Magistrate Judge David Peebles in September 2015 denying the plaintiff’s request to be known only as “Doe.”
