A Nassau County school district failed to prove that it did not have a duty to supervise a football player who was injured before practice when he and other players were catapulting each other off of a blocking sled, an appeals court ruled.

According to court papers, on Oct. 28, 2011, Long Beach High School student Conor Duffy and some fellow teammates were unsupervised while they were waiting for practice and used blocking sleds to fling each other into the air.
