A federal appellate court has upheld a $95,000 jury verdict for a man who said he was beaten by a Suffolk County deputy sheriff. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit affirmed a November 2013 verdict for Perrim Anderson.

The court said in a summary order, “there was more than sufficient evidence from which a jury could find that [Suffolk County Deputy Sheriff Vincent] Aparicio committed battery, used excessive force in violation of Anderson’s constitutional rights, and was not shielded by qualified immunity.”
