An appeals court has upheld a state Workers’ Compensation Board’s finding that a former nurse lost almost all of her wage-earning capacity when she developed a severe allergy to hand sanitizer.

The Appellate Division, Third Department, panel affirmed the board’s ruling that Emma Baczuk suffered a work-related loss of 90 percent of her earning capability because of the allergy that surfaced between July and November 2009, when she was a $2,300-a-week critical care nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip.
