The family of an auto racer killed when he was hit by a car driven by Tony Stewart has filed a wrongful death suit against the veteran NASCAR and IndyCar driver.
The suit filed by Kevin Ward Sr. and Pamela Ward, the parents of Kevin Ward Jr., contends that because Stewart has such “supreme skill” as a race car driver, negligence must have been involved when he struck Ward as he walked up the track after exiting his vehicle in a 2014 Sprint car race at Canandaigua Motorsports Park. Ward’s car had been knocked out of the race when it crashed into the wall after colliding with Stewart’s car.
