ALBANY – The state improperly denied workers’ compensation benefits to a former Saks Fifth Avenue sales associate who claimed his bosses made him falsify orders so the store would be shipped a better supply of Chanel handbags, a state appeals court held.

The Appellate Division, Third Department, panel said Chanel had not refuted Jeremy Cox’s claims that he was forced off the job by anxiety and panic stemming from Saks’ so-called trunk sale, where preferred customers are shown the next season’s line of handbags.
