State court officials are attempting to bring up to date the rules governing the use of cameras in the courtroom and to stress that audio-visual coverage should be allowed “to the fullest extent permissible by law.”

In an interview Wednesday, court spokesman David Bookstaver agreed that more and more judges have permitted cameras in their courtroom in recent years.
“I would say on any given day, a judge, or more, allows cameras in court on some level,” he said. “And I think that’s just a change in culture and a change in awareness of what they thought prevented them from having cameras in courtrooms.”
