After ruling that American Express’ anti-steering rules broke antitrust laws, a federal judge refused to put his permanent injunction on hold pending the company’s appeal.
Eastern District Judge Nicholas Garaufis on Tuesday denied the company’s motion but, sua sponte, entered a temporary 30-day stay allowing American Express to ask the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit to pause the injunction while it challenged the case.
