A federal appeals court overturned a judge’s decision to vacate the conviction of a broker’s assistant in a securities fraud case.
Eastern District Judge I. Leo Glasser had dismissed Irene Santiago’s conviction for conspiracy to obstruct justice, questioning an outcome where some of her former superiors with greater roles were ultimately conviction-free while Santiago, who testified for prosecutors, ended up with a felony.
