A man waiting on line to enter the state courthouse in Rochester had ample warning of the search that ultimately revealed he was carrying illegal drugs, a state appeals court ruled in denying his motion to suppress the evidence.

The Appellate Division, Fourth Department, panel said signs outside the magnetometers warned Jarrett White and other visitors that everyone entering was “subject to be being searched.” The court further ruled that two sheriff’s deputies were within their authority to search him in a private room after something in his “groin area” set off the metal-detecting equipment.
