The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit has clarified a federal law on the use of a firearm in connection with a crime of violence.

Settling an open question, the Second Circuit said it was enough that prosecutors provide “legally sufficient proof” that the predicate crime was committed in order to win a conviction under the law, 18 U.S.C. §924(c), which prohibits use of a firearm in connection with a crime of violence.
