A matrimonial judge’s decision to jail a divorcing husband for contempt, and her finding that his “egregious economic fault” warranted giving two-thirds of an $8 million marital estate to his wife, have been upheld by the Appellate Division, First Department.

A unanimous appeals panel on Jan. 29 said Manhattan Justice Ellen Gesmer’s “unequal distribution of marital property in plaintiff’s favor is amply supported by the record.”
