The son of an influential New York lawmaker was convicted Monday of three counts of filing false income tax returns and acquitted of four other charges.

Matthew Libous, an attorney, was accused of failing to report approximately $57,000 of income from a now defunct law firm in Westchester County, Santangelo, Randazzo & Mangone, and from a cell tower company, Wireless Construction Solutions. He was tried by Southern District Judge Vincent Briccetti (See Profile), sitting in White Plains, in a three-day bench trial.
