An attorney who admitted taking $83,000 in fees owed to his firm and using most of the money to treat his Parkinson’s disease has resigned from the bar.

An Appellate Division, First Department, panel granted the motion of the Departmental Disciplinary Committee in Matter of Hornstein, M-3711 to accept the resignation of attorney Howard Hornstein. In his affidavit of resignation, Hornstein acknowledged that he could not defend himself successfully had the committee brought formal disciplinary charges against him.
