• Robert Appleton is joining Day Pitney‘s white-collar defense and internal investigations practice as partner. He was director of investigations and senior legal counsel at Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, which funds grants to developing countries.

White & Case has added Henrik Patel as partner in its executive compensation, benefits and employment practice. Patel was special counsel at Sullivan & Cromwell.

Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison has added Brian Kim as a partner in its corporate department, where he will focus on acquisition financing, distressed debt and other financing transactions. Kim was a partner at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld.

• Pearl Cohen Zedek Latzer Baratz has added Veronica Munoz as a partner focusing on life sciences patent litigation. The firm also added as special counsel Lani Questembert, who focuses on patent litigation and licensing transactions, and Brendan Mee, focusing on patent prosecution and portfolio management. Munoz was a partner at Hogan Lovells, while Questembert practiced at Vinson & Elkins. Lee headed his firm, Brendan Mee Law P.C.

• The Fund for Modern Courts has added new members to its board of directors, including Judith Kaye, of counsel at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom; Carmen Beauchamp Ciparick, of counsel at Greenberg Traurig; James Catterson, special counsel at Kaye Scholer; E. Danya Perry, chief of litigation at MacAndrews & Forbes Holdings Inc.; and Laura Grossfield Birger, partner at Cooley.
