Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has a 25-point lead over Republican challenger John Cahill, even though only a quarter of registered voters have a favorable opinion of the incumbent, according to a poll released Monday morning by Siena College Research Institute.

The poll showed Schneiderman leading Cahill 52 to 27 percent, holding a comfortable early lead among most demographic groups, but it also showed the attorney general is unknown by a large percentage of voters.
