The Ninth Judicial District’s Committee to Promote Gender Fairness in the Courts recognized winners of its annual essay contest in celebration of Women’s History Month at a recent breakfast.
First and second place winners, respectively, in the freshman/sophomore category were Phoebe Van Essche, from The Master’s School in Dobbs Ferry, and Sebastian Naibaho from Iona Preparatory School in New Rochelle. Chantal Espaillat from the Nellie A. Thornton High School in Mount Vernon was first in the junior/senior category, and John Buzzard, also from Iona Prep, was second.
