Southern District U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara, left, at a ceremony to mark the return of the Duryodhana, a 10th century sandstone sculpture of the mythical figure known as Pandava, to the Kingdom of Cambodia. At right is H. E. Dr. Sok An, deputy prime minister and minister in charge of the country’s council of ministers who presented Bharara with an award sash.

Cambodia has been pressing for return of artwork looted during the country’s civil war in the 1970s. The return of the statue, which had been imported by Sotheby’s, was made possible by a civil forfeiture filed by Bharara, and a settlement approved by Southern District Judge George Daniels.
