Five lawyers at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson have been promoted to partner effective March 1.
Only one of the five is in New York: litigator Randy Eisensmith. In the Washington, D.C. office, Rebecca Zelenka was promoted in the corporate department. In London, the firm raised antitrust and competition attorney Tobias Caspary, and corporate lawyer Jons Lehmann. Litigator Alfred Wu was promoted in Hong Kong.
The firm said it changed its promotion schedule to March. The last announced promotions took place in August 2012, when three lawyers, two of whom were in New York, were brought into the partnership.
Fried Frank also promoted nine lawyers to special counsel, including five in New York: Alexis Kremen, real estate; and Laurinda Martins, David McDonald, Jan Sysel and David Zilberberg in the corporate department.
“We congratulate each of the new partners and special counsel for demonstrating the level of expertise and leadership required to achieve these important career milestones,” Fried Frank co-chairs David Greenwald and Valerie Ford Jacob said in a statement.
This year the firm lost to King & Spalding partners William Johnson, Dixie Johnson and Carmen Lawrence in the white-collar defense and securities enforcement practice.
Fried Frank recently brought on real estate partner David Karnovsky, former general counsel to the New York City Department of City Planning since 1999. He will start at the firm this month.
