Philadelphia-based Marshall Dennehey Warner Coleman & Goggin announced Friday that it will bring on about 30 of New York City-based Jones Hirsch Connors Miller & Bull’s 34 lawyers. Both firms focus heavily on insurance defense.

Marshall Dennehey said in a press release that it expects to complete the move by mid-2014, with Jones Hirsch lawyers joining Marshall Dennehey’s Manhattan, Long Island and New Jersey offices, as well as a new office in White Plains, N.Y.

Marshall Dennehey President and CEO Thomas A. Brophy said in the press release that he and Jones Hirsch managing partner James P. Connors decided to bring the two firms together after observing the firms’ similarities.

“Jim and I have been speaking for over a year and are impressed by how closely aligned our two firms are in terms of culture, clients and civil litigation experience,” said Brophy. “Having the lawyers of Jones Hirsch join us is a terrific opportunity to expand our footprint in New York while adding talent, experience and depth. When the joinder is complete, Marshall Dennehey will have over 50 lawyers in its New York locations.”
